Waste criminals at work in the Ghent Canal Zone. Bags of waste are regulary found at this location along the banks of the Nieuwe Kale.
Bags are regulary searched and sometimes polluters are identified and legally prosecuted. Cleaning up litter at illegal dumping sites along roads and watercourses costs the governement a lot of money, but is necessary to prevent further pollution.
